As you probably know linkbuilding is a vital part of getting a good position in the search engines. The higher Google PageRank the page has where your link is at, the better rank does your page get which increases your search engine position. Therefore it is better for you to have your link on pages with high Google PageRank. For some this is of course very important, so important that they are willing to pay for it. Therefore, this also means that if you have a page with a good Google PageRank, people will be willing to pay to get their link on your site. You need at least PageRank 4 (out of 10) to make any money from selling text links.

You can choose to sell links yourself or have a text link broker do that for you. If you sell it yourself you will of course get all the money but need to put a lot of effort in the selling. With a broker, you have to give the broker some percentage but on the other hand you save a lot of time.

To know what prices to set for the links you can simply see what kind of prices the broker sells them for. To reach break-even in you selling the links yourself compared to a broker you probably need a site with at least PageRank 6 or 7.

When it comes to search engine optimization you have to start by choosing which keywords people search for, that should result in your site. It should be keywords relevant to your site and if people are looking for information related to this keyword they should be able to get the answer at your site, otherwise you will have them click there once and then leave.

If possible, you should choose keywords that are not that common, to be able to get through the competition. It will be easier to get notice on a keyword like “bearded collie” than “dog”. More people might search for “dog” but due to the competition, it will tougher to get high in search engine results.

The basic idea for search engines today is to give you the most relevant result when you make a search. So try to put yourself in their position and consider why your page should appear on a certain keyword.

Once you have chosen your keywords, you have to make them appear on your site, preferably in the title tag as well in headlines in the page and in the text body. You can then use Firefox, go to your page, click on the right mouse button and choose “Show Keyword Density...”. Enter your keyword and it is good if they appear to about 2% of the body text.
